The NSPCC have paid several visits to St Joseph’s over the last month to promote their campaign “It’s Good to Talk”.
In a series of inspiring assemblies and workshops, the representative talked to our pupils about the vital work of this charity and its aims. Under the watchful eye of Buddy, the NSPCC mascot, the children explored the steps they can take to keep themselves safe together with a thoughtful discussion about fundamental children’s rights – love, care, respect, nourishment and being kept safe from harm.
Our pupils then rose to the collective challenge of helping other children by participating in Buddy’s sponsored spell to raise money for the charity which includes Childline, a special helpline service dedicated to children.
We are so proud of all the children who participated in this challenge and who raised £245 as a result of their sharp spelling skills. Money is still continuing to be handed in to the school office so the final total will be well in excess of this figure.
Thank you to everyone who sponsored the children and to the children themselves whose efforts will help children in every community throughout the country.
