Quicksticks

On Monday 6th March 2017, a St Joseph’s hockey team travelled over to Chatham House to participate in a Quicksticks hockey Kent School Games Qualifier, the participants were:

  • Scarlett Keyworth
  • Millie Vas
  • Emily Currie
  • Sophia Pardo
  • Jack Vas
  • Lloyd Barker
  • William Ling
  • Theo Sutton – Jones

We were placed into group two alongside, Salmestone, Palm Bay, St Peters and Newington. The winners of the group would go play the winners of group 1 whilst second place in group 2 would play second place in group 1 in a 3rd/4th playoff.

Our first match was against Salmestone and after conceding early through a slow start we lost the game 1-0. Our second game was played against St Peters, we scored very early on through Sophia but conceded late and drew the game 1-1. Our third game of the afternoon was against Palm Bay who were a very strong outfit, we successfully won the game 1-0 with a goal from Jack. Our fourth and final game of the group was played against Newington where we played the best hockey of the afternoon and comfortably won the game 3-1, with goals from Jack, Sophia and Emily.

Unfortunately we didn’t progress into any more games, however everyone should be very proud of themselves as for most this is the first competitive hockey match they have ever played.

We wish Upton the best of luck as they will represent Thanet in the Kent School Games!

Well done to all!
