On Saturday 13th February 12 children from St. Joseph’s Catholic Primary School were lucky enough to attend a Vanarama National league South football match, to watch local side Margate FC take on Basingstoke FC. This was a fun packed afternoon, and although it was a very cold and windy day, it was enjoyed by the children, parents and teachers alike.
After a pre-match buffet, the children had the opportunity to play a small football match on Margate’s 5-a-side 3G pitches. They were then taken away to sit in the players dug-out and meet the club mascot. Then the children became the ‘Guard of Honour’ as the teams came out onto the pitch and cheered on the Margate FC players.
After watching an action-packed first half with goals at both ends, the children took to the pitch to take part in a half time penalty shoot-out, and I have to say there were some good goals scored.
The children were then able to watch the second half of the game, in which Margate FC won 2-1, and finally to finish off the day they received a goodie bag to take home.
This was an excellent day which was enjoyed by all, and all the children represented the school impeccably.
