St Joseph’s Goes for The Double

St Joseph’s are celebrating two silver medals in five days after a climactic week of sport ended in the Basketball and Dodgeball teams gaining a double silver medal in their respective competitions.
The seven strong basketball team kept a clean score sheet by winning five, losing none and drawing three matches in the District Basketball Championship with a place in the County Finals up for grabs. In spite of skilful performances by Jack, Noah and Natalia, the team was placed second to St Peter’s overall. Mr Jones was effusive in his praise of a team that can take pride in only losing one match across the two basketball fixture this year. A well-deserved podium finish for the team!
Not to be outdone by the basketballers, the dodgeball team then took on the sporting baton and powered their way to a silver medal in the Thanet Schools tournament hosted by King Ethelbert’s. The eight strong team (featuring many familiar basketball faces) cut an impressive swathe through the competition, progressing to the finals where they were beaten by St Peter’s Junior School 2-0.
Both teams can now have a well-deserved break over Christmas with further glories to come in 2018. Mr Jones would like to thank both teams and their parents for their commitment, enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the term.
