Pyjamas and bedtime stories were the order of the day at St. Joseph’s last week when the school celebrated World Book Day.
A parade of Unicorn onesies, Manchester United pyjamas and Wee Willie Winkie nighties were on show as the school embraced the theme of sharing a bedtime story. Children were encouraged to bring in a book to swap as part of a mass book sharing scheme devised by the Literacy Coordinator in a bid to expose all our children to a diverse range of books and themes.
This year, the highlight of the day was a visit to Reception by the Big Bad Wolf from Little Red Riding Hood who caused quite a stir (although had thankfully breakfasted before his visit !)
Designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of Books, the day continues to be a firm favourite on the school calendar where the joy of books, sharing experiences and exploring new worlds is promoted.
