Year 3 Roman Day

Year 3 Roman Day

To support our History topic of the Romans, we visited Dover Museum, who put on a fantastic day for us. The day started with some artifact handling and identification. Handing artifacts from such a long time ago and replicas, whilst trying to identify, ended with some very funny guesses. This was all led by a very engaging and knowledgeable member of the museum team. Following that, the children had time to explore the Roman museum and a special talk about the Bronze Age boat discovered in Dover in the 1990’s (this linked to Term One’s History topic of Stone Age to Bronze Age). After lunch, we had a wonderful workshop creating clay Roman soldiers, with another excellent member of the museum team. This turned out to be quite challenging and great fun. Once dry, we will be painting them at school and your children will be bringing them home.

Once again, a massive thanks to everyone who gave up their time to help, we couldn’t do it without you.

A massive thanks to Judith in the office for sorting out trains and logistics…
